1st Annual Statewide Golf Tournament Raises over $8000!

The Summit House First Annual Statewide Golf Tournament was played on Monday, June 21, 2010 at the fabulous Quarry Hills Country Club in the Village of Swepsonville The day was balmy, the course was beautiful and the sponsors and participants donated over $8,000 for the families of Summit House!

Everyone had fun purchasing mulligans and putting them to good use as evidenced by the impressive scores of the day. The 50/50 raffle tickets were a big success, netting both Summit House and the winner $127.50!

Fifteen teams vied for the NC Statewide trophy which was ultimately won by Carolina Panther Kenny Moore’s team. Shooting 14 under par, the team was all smiles and plans to participate in an even bigger way next year. The Murphy Group, also shooting 14 under par placed second.

The highlight of the event was Dee, a class of 1991 Summit House graduate. She bravely shared her personal journey with all of the participants: how she was treated and felt about herself prior to coming to Summit House and what she and her children learned while in the program. Dee is currently studying to become a certified substance abuse counselor and is serving her internship at Summit House Piedmont. We’re proud of all of Dee’s accomplishments!
